Chuck Conklin

Chuck lives in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas.  He received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, an MBA from the University of Texas in Information Systems and Finance, and a Doctor of Ministry in Theological Studies from Texas University of Theology. 

 

He spent almost 5 years in the US Army attaining the rank of Captain and over 30 years in senior engineering management for various major pharmaceutical companies.  Since then, he spends time doing video recording and production, which is my hobby, for REAP International and teaching at the school in Vietnam.

Cindy is from Bakersfield, California. She graduated from SUM with a Bachelor's Degree. She has a heart for working overseas as well as a passion and desire to see children become our next generation of world leaders in the Market Place arena.

 

Her favorite foods are Mediterranean and Italian and she loves coffee. She has four beautiful children and seven amazing grandchildren. She loves spending time with her family as well as jogging, walking, hiking, and fishing. She really enjoys cooking.

Zack Formby

Zachary is beginning his fourth year of teaching. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in math education. Zack has worked with children and youth for most of his life and loves to see them grow and learn.  He married his wife Christina in December of 2019. Some of Zack’s favorite things are reading, playing chess, and playing board games.

Amanda Thompson

Amanda is entering her third year of teaching at Newman International and is currently the lead teacher at the Hiệp Thanh Campus. She is currently studying for her Masters of Arts in counseling with Liberty University. Amanda loves to travel the world and meet new people. Amanda has worked with students for 8+ years and has published music. She loves to spend time with her students and try new experiences with them.

Moses McAninch

Moses is originally from Africa but now lives in the United States. Moses is an accomplished graduate from Eastern Oregon University, achieving degrees in Communications & Music. With a wealth of expertise garnered over several years, Moses has delved into the realms of peer mentoring, coaching, and motivational speaking. 

 

Moses finds immense pleasure in array of different interests and activities that add vibrancy to his life. An avid sports enthusiast, he revels in the exhilaration of both playing and competing in various athletic pursuits. Beyond the realm of sports, he channels his creativity through the lens of a camera, capturing moments and scenes that resonate with his unique perspective.

Milca Moreno

Milca Moreno is a freelance Information Technology professional with over 10 years of work experience based in California and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer-Science at Westwood College of Technology. Milca is a dedicated educator with a diverse background in teaching. She has taught from independent basic English to intermediate-level courses in Africa and South America countries.

 

Milca loves to incorporate technology into her lessons and is constantly seeking new and innovative ways to engage her students. She is known for her patience and her ability to inspire students to achieve their academic and personal goals.

Lindsey Smith

Lindsey is originally from Colorado where she grew up on a cattle ranch. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Leadership from CCBC and is continuing her education in counseling through Horizon University. Before coming to Vietnam she was a teacher at a private school for four years.

 

When the opportunity arose to go to Vietnam she couldn’t help but say yes as it has been a long-held goal of hers to live in Southeast Asia. In her free time, Lindsey enjoys writing, singing, and going to the beach.

Vicky Smith

Vicky Smith was born and raised in small-town Bray, Oklahoma. After graduating from Cameron University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communication in 2017, she worked as a reporter for The Lawton Constitution. In 2019, she accepted a technical editing position at Raytheon. In 2020, she earned her Professional Master of Arts degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the University of Oklahoma.

 

In 2021, she moved to Doha, Qatar, where she worked as a logistics specialist for Raytheon for about two years. In 2023, she relocated to Texas to work as a materials planner for Collins Aerospace. In August 2023, she said “yes” to her dream job of teaching English overseas. Vicky enjoys writing, working out, hiking, traveling, and making memories with her family.

COVID-19 Newman Policy Summary

Newman is carefully monitoring TEA requirements and is dedicated to the safety of students, parents, faculty, and staff. Please see the current policy of Newman International Academy below. Any updates will be immediately posted on the Newman website.

 

  • Masks will be optional for students, parents, visitors, faculty and staff.

  • Gloves will be optional for students, parents, visitors, faculty and staff.

  • Parents may instruct their child to wear a mask and/or gloves; however, Newman does not assume responsibility for ensuring that the child wears these items correctly at all times.

  • Screening for COVID-19 will be done as necessary and on a contingency basis.

  • Students may be required to maintain social distancing (6 feet apart). Faculty and staff will strive to follow all district requirements and best practices.

  • Online education options will be provided for students and families who do not prefer an in- person learning environment.
