CINDY M. ERAKAT

1st-2nd Grade Teacher

Cindy is from Bakersfield, California. She graduated from SUM with a Bachelor's Degree. She has a heart for working overseas as well as a passion and desire to see children become our next generation of world leaders in the Market Place arena.

 

Her favorite foods are Mediterranean and Italian and she loves coffee. She has four beautiful children and seven amazing grandchildren. She loves spending time with her family as well as jogging, walking, hiking, and fishing. She really enjoys cooking.

CODY BERGQUIST

3rd Grade Teacher

Cody comes to us from Grand Rapids, Michigan where he attended Northpoint College | Grand Rapids. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Leadership. Afterward, he spent several years as a Children and Preschool Teacher until he accepted a position with Global REAP International. He enjoys powerlifting, fishing, and Taco Bell.

ALYSSA GARCIA

4th-5th Grade Teacher

Alyssa is 26 years old and comes from California. She has a passion for working with children because they are our future. I graduated from SUM College with a Bachelor’s Degree. Her favorite drink is taro milk tea with boba.

 

She loves hiking, cooking, going to the beach, watching movies, and eating pasta. She has visited three countries and it’s her first time living in one. She considers it a pleasure to work with Reap International.

BRETT SONNIER

6th-8th Grade Teacher

Brett is originally from Louisiana but has a passion to teach abroad. He has a bachelor’s degree from SUM. He also loves to read and he enjoys trying new things; especially new foods. He is so thrilled to join this amazing team and cannot wait to see where the future takes the school.

AMANDA THOMPSON

High School Teacher

Amanda Thompson is from Houma, Louisiana, where she was born and raised. She graduated from SUM, where she earned her Bachelors degree. She is currently enrolled in Liberty University for her Masters of Arts. She has spent the last 5 years teaching and leading youth in her area as well as bringing training teams of all ages.  She enjoys spending time with her family, loves traveling, and enjoys new experiences.

COVID-19 Newman Policy Summary

Newman is carefully monitoring TEA requirements and is dedicated to the safety of students, parents, faculty, and staff. Please see the current policy of Newman International Academy below. Any updates will be immediately posted on the Newman website.

 

  • Masks will be optional for students, parents, visitors, faculty and staff.

  • Gloves will be optional for students, parents, visitors, faculty and staff.

  • Parents may instruct their child to wear a mask and/or gloves; however, Newman does not assume responsibility for ensuring that the child wears these items correctly at all times.

  • Screening for COVID-19 will be done as necessary and on a contingency basis.

  • Students may be required to maintain social distancing (6 feet apart). Faculty and staff will strive to follow all district requirements and best practices.

  • Online education options will be provided for students and families who do not prefer an in- person learning environment.
