Lai Thieu Campus: Teachers

Cody Bergquist

Cody Bergquist comes to us from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has a Masters of Arts in Leadership. He lives in Ho Chi Minh City with his wife Rachel and 2 dogs; Biscuit and Copper. He enjoys powerlifting, and playing soccer. Cody is entering his 5th year of teaching in Vietnam.

 

His passion centers on the academic development of the students as well as the physical education opportunities for the children. Last year, he coached one of the school teams for the first soccer tournament at Newman International Academy of Vietnam.

Zack Formby

Zachary is beginning his fourth year of teaching. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in math education. Zack has worked with children and youth for most of his life and loves to see them grow and learn.  He married his wife Christina in December of 2019. Some of Zack’s favorite things are reading, playing chess, and playing board games.

Christina Formby

Christina graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and an Associates's in Intercultural Studies. She has several years of working with children including leading a youth summer camp with her husband.  She has a heart for uplifting and growing little minds. Christina loves to read, garden, and play board games with her friends.

TEACHERS NEEDED

COVID-19 Newman Policy Summary

Newman is carefully monitoring TEA requirements and is dedicated to the safety of students, parents, faculty, and staff. Please see the current policy of Newman International Academy below. Any updates will be immediately posted on the Newman website.

 

  • Masks will be optional for students, parents, visitors, faculty and staff.

  • Gloves will be optional for students, parents, visitors, faculty and staff.

  • Parents may instruct their child to wear a mask and/or gloves; however, Newman does not assume responsibility for ensuring that the child wears these items correctly at all times.

  • Screening for COVID-19 will be done as necessary and on a contingency basis.

  • Students may be required to maintain social distancing (6 feet apart). Faculty and staff will strive to follow all district requirements and best practices.

  • Online education options will be provided for students and families who do not prefer an in- person learning environment.
